As a registered charity FAST is operated solely by volunteers, both as responders and support members.
Funding is primarily from donations and fundraising events.
FAST services are completely free. There are no charges made for call-outs or assisting residents.
Administration and operation are completely based on volunteers. However, use of two vehicles and medical supplies, both used and expiring in date, does not come without a cost.
An important source of funds is derived from the weekly collection by a group of members named 'nurses'.
Several years ago, many charities on Camposol all agreed between themselves to implement roadside collections as a means of funding their activities.
From this agreement FAST nominated to implement a roadside collection on Mondays. Thus for many years a collection point on Los Covachos, the dual carriageway of Sector B, has been identified by a simple manufactured and painted figure named ‘Nurse Gladys’. It is here that in teams of two, volunteers from both responding and support members, stand by the road for a couple of hours each Monday morning, waving at cars to encourage passers-by to stop and donate to the funds of FAST.
Currently managed by FAST Secretary, the weekly collections are managed on a rota basis by the volunteers who turn out in all weathers.
We look to support at our weekly collection point, from both our residents and visitors and hope that visitors to this page will be keen to join our team of 'nurses'.
